Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a home warranty and home insurance?

Insurance and warranties are exactly the opposite and are designed to work together.

Insurance covers homes from catastrophic events such as fires, floods, and theft but NOT normal wear and tear. The home warranty covers the normal wear and tear of items but does NOT cover catastrophic events like fires, floods, and theft.

Frequently Asked Policy Questions

How long is my Policy good for?

All of our policies (except seller's policies) are good for one year. This starts on the date of the closing of the real estate, renewal date, or paid by date for direct to consumer.

What is a Seller's Policy?

This policy protects the seller of a home listed on the market for up to six (6) months. The policy is then paid for during the closing and transfer of the property to the buyer. The buyer then receives a full year of coverage!

I want to protect my seller during the listing, is there a charge for the Seller's Policy?

Our HomeGard Prime and HomeGard Core proudly have no extra charge for the extra 6 months of coverage. HomeGard Lite our most affordable plan is only $70 more

Can I renew, how do I do it?

YES! Before the expiration of your policy, simply call us at 1-844-653-5306 or email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help you!

Am I required to have a home inspection?

No home inspection is required to obtain a policy through HomeGard. However, we may rely upon documents such as the home inspection or maintenance records to verify a mechanical item was in good working order when the policy was placed.
